June Newborn Session

Even though wedding season has hit full force,  we love babies, so we are trying to increase the number of newborn and baby sessions that we do. A few weeks ago we got to do a session with this handsome little guy when he was just 10 days old. He came out a bit early, but you’d never know it. Such a happy (and hungry) little guy! Who says newborns don’t smile?

Justine & Chris’ Wedding | Bethel Spanish Assembly of God | Othello, WA

After dating for five years, it was time.

A foggy, frosty winter day wouldn’t be enough to spoil Justine & Chris’ day, where loads of guests came to wish them well. Their sparkler sendoff was more treacherous than most weddings: freezing fog had iced the ground. But these athletes made it to their hot rod sendoff unscathed.

And a shout out to D&Z Events, who did their usual amazing job transforming a church cafeteria into a wedding reception area fit for a royal wedding!

Kelli & Cody’s Engagement | UW Arboretum, Pioneer Square | Seattle, WA

We began their shoot at the University of Washington’s Arboretum. One of the Arboretum’s designers gave Ryan a private tour of the grounds before the shoot — it was helpful to learn about the less-traveled spots.

Then we headed to Seattle’s Pioneer Square for dusk…and Pioneer Square delivered! It wasn’t too busy (the Mariners were playing, but it was only the bottom of the 3rd). We found a beautifully-lit alley  that we’d shoot in any day! (We had to remove some trash cans in our editing process, but it was well worth it.)

We’re enamored with what they gave us to work with, and we can’t wait to shoot Kelli & Cody’s wedding, coming up here soon!

Cherami & Scott’s Wedding | Christ the King | Richland, WA

Cherami & Scott met in Australia, as Cherami obeyed the travel bug. They hit it off immediately, and both knew they’d be married one day.

They didn’t have to wait long. We’ve been so blessed to shoot Cherami’s three sibling’s weddings, so we knew going in that this would be an awesome day. It was equal parts solemn and entertaining — a dignified blowout!

Their small wedding at Christ the King in Richland was followed by a reception-for-the-ages at her parents’ house. Lightning conspired against them, but they couldn’t care less. Guests danced in the rain as only their friends and family can.

We love them and their family, and we’re bummed their out of siblings to get married! Now onto the grandkids…right?

Shelby & Chris’ Wedding | Camp Dudley | Naches, WA

Not every wedding goes according to plan. OK, almost none do. But construction on the only road into YMCA’s Camp Dudley caused hours of delays! Instead of panicking, people just decorated more!

Who knew a YMCA camp could make such a stunning wedding venue? The ceremony had a beautiful lake as the backdrop, there was plenty of room for guests to roam and socialize, and Shelby & Chris took advantage of the kayaks at sunset. Seriously — a bride with a cute umbrella during a stunning sunset? Love it.

Molly & Dennis’ Engagement | The Parkway | Richland, WA

Shooting engagement photos really helps you get to know a couple — Molly and Dennis showed us their fortitude battling the frigid Tri-City temperatures!

Seriously. It was cold. *Really* cold with the wind chill. We shooters wore huge jackets, hats, gloves, etc. But Molly was such a trooper — she wore a dress and open-toed shoes! (We hope she didn’t suffer any symptoms of frostbite!)

We did have fun though. From a winery to the Parkway to the Richland Players theater, Molly & Dennis proved they were easy-going and amiable, making the best of the cold day.

Amaris & Alex’s Wedding | Spanish Assembly of God | Othello, WA

We had the pleasure of shooting Amaris & Alex’s engagement photos, which also afforded us the opportunity to get some shots of them to include in their highlight movie. Baseball is a huge part of their lives, so it was super-cute to film them at a Tri-City Dust Devil’s game at Gesa Stadium in Pasco.

When Amaris told us the reception would be in a gym, we were nervous that it wouldn’t look enough like a wedding. We were *floored* by the decorating by D&Z Events — we’d never seen such a transformation! It ended up being one of the best-looking venues we’ve filmed.

We’re excited to finally share them with you!

Blanca & Tom’s Engagement | Howard Amon Park | Richland, WA

Now this couple has no problems smiling. They are truly giddy with each other. And we love that they enjoy goofing around (it makes for great photos!).

We took great advantage of the saturated fall colors, which suited them well: he played the guitar to her on a bench, and the autumn colors couldn’t have complemented them better.

We can’t wait for their 2014 wedding!

Crystal and Geoff’s Wedding | Moore Mansion | Pasco, WA

This California-based couple flew up to Pasco to get married at the beautiful Moore Mansion in Pasco, WA. They were truly a joy to capture. They’re hilarious separately, and even funnier together. They play off each other, making for great comedy. They’re not afraid to laugh at themselves or each other.

It was a hot but wonderful day in Pasco, where the guests enjoyed the flowers by Simplified Celebrations and the drinks made up by the florist’s husband, Domingo Macias. Yes, he’s licensed, and he did a wonderful job creating drinks unique to the couple — a 49′ers drink for him, and a Seahawk drink for her. (Football season must be rough for them!)

They were awesome to work with. It’s too bad they’ll be in California — we’d love to see them again!

Brianne & Justin’s Wedding | Carol Allenbaugh’s House | Finley, WA

We had the fortune of doing Brianne & Justin’s engagement photos. We were thankful to be shooting their wedding photos as well: they’re such an entertaining couple.

Due to a scheduling mixup, the ceremony started about half an hour late. (Really, though, isn’t that par for the course anyway?) Ed Daily did a great job officiating, as always. We don’t think we’ve ever seen a groom happier to see his bride walk down the aisle to him. It was an emotional ceremony — plenty of waterworks to go around.

We’d been concerned about weather issues the entire day, as it had been incredibly stormy the day before. It ended up only raining once: while getting their dinner, the umbrellas finally had to come out for the bridal party; it rained for a paltry ten minutes. They capped the night off by dancing with glow sticks — a fun trend in weddings lately.
